Well it has been almost a year since I last posted so it is about time to get going again, right? To start off the new year we are going with an new look and a new title. Someone has requested that he is no longer the focus of the blog and now that we have a few other things going on besides his crazy travel schedule I think I can find other things to blog about. :)
To catch everyone up on our lives as of January 1, 2012 we are both employed full time and living in Kansas City, MO. Tate has switched roles with the Global Orphan Project and is now working on a new branch of the organization focused on orphaned children in Kansas City. It is brand new and they are still in the early stages, but we are really excited for what God has in store for his church in Kansas City and the children of Kansas City. A great bonus to this new role is that Tate gets to be home for the majority of the time. We are really enjoying our 2nd year of marriage and actually being together for the majority of it to experience "real" married life. Tate still travels occasionally, but is not gone for as long and is only traveling once every 3-4 months on average.
I am working as a pediatric physical therapist at a fully integrated preschool in the Northland of Kansas City. The school is 50% typically developing children and 50% special needs children. Most of my patients are through Missouri's First Steps program which provides early intervention services to children from birth to three years old. I see some of my patients in the school and I go the childrens' homes in the community to serve the rest of my patients. I was unbelievably blessed to find this job which was a perfect fit for me and the family straight out of school. I get to play with kids everyday and have a wide variety of patients from slightly delayed development to severely delayed development. This provides constant variety and never a boring day to always keep me on my toes :)
Samson is our 10 month old Great Dane/Mastiff puppy who is growing like it is his job. He is very well behaved (most of the time) and adjusting well to city life.
We are getting very plugged in to our new church home in Kansas City, Redeemer Fellowship. We have made some great friends and are loving getting to know new people all the time. We became members in August and are now leaders of one of the childcare rooms. The leadership role has opened opportunities to meet new people (volunteers and parents) as well as to get to know some of the young people of our church... ok very young (1 year olds), but they are the future!
There were many changes for our young family of 2 + dog in the 2011 year and 2012 is sure to be no different. We are looking forward to seeing what God has in store for us and are attempting to follow God's will for our lives every step of the way.
These are just the basics to update on current life. Stay tuned for more updates of what is to come in the near and somewhat distant future...
Fun to see you writing again!
