Dumpsters full of trash.
Unfortunately the quantity of stuff left in this house was so overwhelming I evidently forgot to accurately capture it. We filled two of the biggest dumpsters we could get with just "treasures" from the house.
This was one of the cleaner rooms because they actually used it. Every nook, every cranny & any open floor space had boxes, bags or just random stuff piled about. Had we had the time and energy we probably could have sorted through the trash and had an estate sale. But, due to the fact that well over 75% was just trash and everything in the attic and basement was covered in years of soot and dirt, almost all of it went into the dumpsters. Don't be too sad. I saved a few things and many things got saved by neighbors "helping themselves" in the middle of the night, so not all was lost.
These are a few of the treasures I found while helping. Someone kept yelling at me for stopping to take pictures so there aren't many, but you can use your imagination.
Over 40 fully assembled, glued and stacked puzzles. New Kids on the Block was the clear winner for my favorite. Stacks and stacks of newspapers starting in the 1980s, when the former owner first moved in. Boxes and boxes of homework, art projects, and report cards. 8 tracks and a player. Broken toys and furniture. Two kitchens worth of pots and pans and dishes.
Christmas decoratations, St. Patrick Day decorations, 4 of July decorations, but by far the biggest holiday to decorate for was Halloween.
And loads and loads of more random stuff. Random McDonald's straw anyone? Empty jewelry box (over 100!)? And I am kind of sad the flamingos are gone.
The piles were amazing and we got a great upper body workout heaving things over the railings. Many many piles of treasures over Tate's head. It is very therapeutic throwing that much stuff away and it made us want to go home and throw even more stuff away. Except we didn't have the energy.
Another productive day, another happy dumpster.

But you guys are the new kids on the block.
